Unfortunately, the Swiss Army Automatic does not include a screwdriver, scissors or tweezers. It’s just a good-looking, well-made everyday watch at an affordable price.

Victorinox’s world-famous pocket knife has built a reputation for providing everything you need in one easy-to-use tool. The goal was the same for the sole automatic movement in the Swiss Army watch lineup.

The Swiss Army Automatic is decidedly simpler than most of its EDC counterparts, but a good everyday watch only needs to do a few things well.

It has a highly legible dial and bezel, aided by strong lume. The 42mm steel case has a 100m water resistance rating and comes on a comfortable steel mesh strap. Above all, it runs on an impeccable automatic movement and has a classic look that can be worn every day.

An EDC dive watch

A dependable watch is the ideal companion to a Swiss Army knife. Of all the tool watch varieties, it is the most useful to have on you all the time.

Victorinox optimized functionality while keeping the look of the Swiss Army Automatic simple and straightforward. Dive watches, which inspired the look, use geometric hour markers, but this watch has large Arabic numerals on the dial and bezel.

The minute track is on the chapter ring, keeping the dial clean with only numerals and branding. Although the date window is a standard size, it is clearly marked with an arrow.

Despite its simple look, two small features make the Swiss Army Automatic unique. Rather than placing a triable at 12 o’clock on the bezel as a zero marker, a triable replaces the 15-minute mark.

As a clever piece of branding, the hour hand is also shaped to resemble the signature blade shape found on most Swiss Army Knives.

Swiss engineering

The Swiss Army Automatic has a 42mm brushed steel case with a signed screw-down crown, affixed with a stainless steel bezel. The screw-in case back has a sapphire crystal exhibition window brilliantly marked with the outline of a Swiss Army Knife.

Being Swiss-made, it fittingly runs on a custom-signed Selitta movement, the gold standard of Swiss automatic watch movements. The steel mesh sliding buckle bracelet is outfitted with quick-release pins.

If the goal behind the Swiss Army Knife is to provide everything you need in a single tool, Victorinox accomplished the watch equivalent with the Swiss Army Automatic. It is dependable, attractive and easy to have on you every day.
