Italian microbrand Unimatic has become one of the more popular new watch brands of the past decade thanks to its refreshing minimalist styling and hyper-fixation on tool watches.

Last year, the brand literally doubled down on tool watches by doubling the size of its permanent catalog with the introduction of its aptly named “Toolwatches” collection, a quartet of quartz-powered, MIL-STD-810H standard-meeting watches that introduced new levels of toughness and affordability to the brand.

But there was always one glaring omission from Unimatic’s Toolwatch collection; something commonly found on the most iconic steel tool watches: a matching bracelet.

Now, Unimatic has rectified this by introducing a stainless steel bracelet for its Toolwatch models.

Brace for Impact

The new bracelet is similar to those already offered for Unimatic’s Classic collection, but there are some key differences.

I’ll start with the similarities. The new bracelet is a three-link Oyster-style bracelet in stainless steel with a slim design that tapers from 22mm at the solid end links to 18mm at the solid dual-push-button clasp. Its links are held in place by 4mm screws, and the clasp features a micro-adjustable divers extension that offers up to 15mm of extra room.

So far, those are the same specs available on Unimatic’s existing steel bracelets, but here’s where the differences come into play.

First off, the finish is different. While Unimatic’s older bracelets have a more refined brushed finish, the new Toolwatch bracelet is sandblasted, giving it a more rugged look to match the more military-inspired sandblasted design of the Toolwatch line.

Secondly, the new bracelet is universal, meaning it is compatible with all four Unimatic Toolwatch models: the UT1 diver, UT1 GMT, UT4 field watch and UT4 GMT.

Unimatic’s Classic Bracelet is not universal — it has five different versions, so you need to be careful when ordering to make sure you get the one that fits your watch. Even then, there are several previous Unimatic references that aren’t compatible with any bracelet.

With the Toolwatch bracelet, there’s no need to worry: As long as you own one of the four Unimatic Toolwatches, this new bracelet will fit your watch. And if you own more than one Toolwatch, then guess what? Now they can share a bracelet. Pretty cool stuff.

Finally, there is the price, and we return to the new bracelet again having something in common with the old. The Toolwatch Bracelet has the exact same SRP as the Classic Bracelet, clocking in at €180 (~$185) before tax with free shipping. It is available to order now directly from Unimatic’s online store.
