Tudor has now added a new high-performance member to its Pelagos dive watch family, a.k.a the Pelagos Ultra (REF M2543C1A7NU-0001), which the brand calls “the most technically capable Pelagos ever made.”

It immediately stands out visually from others in the family thanks to the Pelagos name written in a sea foamy green. But that’s just one minor update in a slew of more significant changes introduced.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Tudor Pelagos Ultra.

As the name implies, the Pelagos Ultra is built to handle more intensive underwater excursions thanks to a newly reworked 43mm case made of grade 2 and grade 5 titanium, complete with a compact helium escape valve suitable for saturation diving.

The improvements mean the Ultra has a depth rating of 1,000 meters, or five times that of the Rolex Submariner, or about ~200 meters less than the depth rating of Rolex’s beefier Sea-Dweller.

Bright and Colorful

To combat the darker diving conditions found at lower depths, Tudor also upgraded the watch’s luminescence to include two blue and green colors—the latter appearing on the minute hand—for increased contrast and visibility.

Tudor has also beefed up the dial with thicker hands and markers to increase legibility.

Enhanced Credentials

Beyond the obvious feature improvements, the Tudor Pelagos Ultra is also now METAS Master Chronometer certified, bringing the dive watch up to par with several of Tudor’s other more recent releases including last year’s Black Bay 58 GMT, which we called the best GMT of the year.

A Matching Titanium Bracelet

The Pelagos Ultra comes with a satin-brushed titanium bracelet with an adjustable clasp for tweaking the length. The bracelet also features a pop of the same green accent color shown on the dial. A second black rubber strap, complete with a titanium pin buckle and a rubber extension piece, is also included.

Tudor Pelagos Ultra

Tudor’s Pelagos was already the brand’s top-of-the-line diver, but the Pelagos Ultra sets an extreme new performance standard for the brand. The Ultra features more titanium in its slightly larger 43mm case, eschewing steel entirely for a mix of Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium. Its manufacture movement is METAS certified, it features bi-color lume on the hands and bezel for heightened visibility, its dial is cleaner to improve legibility, and most impressive of all, its depth rating is 1,000m — double the rating of the standard Pelagos
