Tudor Just Launched the Perfect Sequel to Last Year’s Hottest Chronograph

Now this is some real Miami heat.

Well, that didn’t take long.

Less than 24 hours after I published a story about Tudor teasing a possible Black Bay Chrono with a Tiffany Blue dial, the brand officially announced the watch.

But its dial isn’t Tiffany Blue, it’s Flamingo Blue.

Now, flamingos are famously pink, not blue. So just what is Flamingo Blue, you ask? As it turns out, Tudor’s product development team is not colorblind. They used “flamingo” to describe the color because it was inspired by the “tropical waters flamingos are known to love,” according to Tudor’s press release.

That’s one explanation. Another is they called it Flamingo Blue because they can’t legally call it Tiffany Blue. Either way, the watch is beautiful and it’s almost certainly going to be massively hyped. Here’s what to know about it.

Built for Miami

Tudor has created the new Chrono to be a companion to the ultra-popular and extremely rare pink version of the watch released last year.

As you may recall, that watch was released as part of Tudor’s sponsorship of the MLS team Inter Miami CF, whose colors are the very Miami-appropriate pink and, more recently, Tiffany Blue-ish turquoise. So as a follow-up, Tudor has turned to the turquoise shade for its own take on the ever-trendy Tiffany-adjacent Blue colorway.

To tease the watch yesterday ahead of its release, the brand had its top ambassador David Beckham — a co-owner of Inter Miami — wear the chronograph in an unrelated Instagram video. Beckham was also crucial in Tudor’s marketing of last year’s pink version, as it was originally his idea to outfit his MLS team with the bold color.

A Perfect Sequel

In addition to Flamingo Blue being a perfect complementary shade to Miami Pink, the new Black Bay Chrono also brings back everything else that made last year’s watch such a massive hit.

It features the same five-link Jubilee-style bracelet and micro-adjustable T-Fit clasp and the same MT5813 manufacture calibre, which is COSC-certified and boasts both a column wheel and vertical clutch for its chronograph mechanism.

Also, like the pink version, the Flamingo Blue Chrono features a 41mm stainless steel case, a black aluminum tachymetric bezel insert, black subdials, white snowflake hands and indices and a white date window at six o’clock. It even features the same red accents on the tip of the chronograph seconds hand and water resistance text. Literally, the only difference between the watches is their dial color.

Pricing and Availability

The Black Bay Chrono Flamingo Blue has the same SRP as the Black Bay Chrono Pink at $5,875. It also looks like it will have the same rarity as its rosy-hued sibling.

Like the Black Bay Chrono Pink, the Flamingo Blue is not available to purchase online — you’ll have to test your luck at your local boutique or AD, and I’m sure the watches will be strictly allocated. I can’t say for sure if it will be as hyped as the pink version from last year, but it’s going to be close.

What’s more, Tudor has debuted a new “Daring Watches” section on its website where it groups together its collector-driven unicorns. You’ll find both the Pink and Flamingo Blue Black Bay Chronos there, along with the F1-derived Black Bay Ceramic Blue that debuted last year.
