Welcome to Talking Points, a series that looks at what makes certain products worth talking about, brought to you by Gear Patrol Studios.
Although it is a young company by watchmaking standards, Norqain has managed to establish itself as a luxury player, with quality and appeal matching that of heritage brands. Founded in 2018, this innovative brand doesn’t rely on tradition as a selling point, unlike many of its long-established counterparts. Instead, style, exclusive movements and the pedigree of its board members, who bring decades of experience to the table, lend the brand notoriety.
That’s why the latest release from this burgeoning brand is so enticing — Norqain is following up last year’s wildly successful launch of the Independence Skeleton Chrono 42mm with two new Grade 5 Titanium editions: one with purple detailing and another with vivid jade green.

The Backstory
In is seven-year history, Norqain has released a selection of watches that easily rival its long-established counterparts. In 2020, the family-owned Swiss watch company announced its partnership with Kenissi; In 2022, industry legend Jean-Claude Biver joined Norqain as its Advisor to the Board, helping develop and launch the brand’s Independence Wild ONE, which quickly became its flagship collection. In 2024, Norqain launched the Independence Skeleton Chrono watch, the first flyback chrono watch in its collection. And now, Norqain is at it again, with the release of two new editions of the mega-popular model.
The Gist
The latest releases from Norqain both feature the brand’s exclusive chronograph movement, the Norqain 8K Manufacture Calibre — a
skeletonized, column wheel flyback chronograph. The COSC-certified 8k movement’s 62-hour power reserve allows for weekend wear without needing a reset. Both of the new editions are built with 42mm Grade 5 titanium cases, a screw-down crown featuring 100m of water resistance, as well as bold, high-performance profiles.
The Independence Skeleton Chrono 42mm Purple has a satin-finished skeletonized black and purple openwork dial, paired with a matching animal-cruelty-free rubber strap, while the jade green option takes a slightly different approach: limited to just 500 pieces, this model’s case has a special DLC coating designed to be minimal and durable, and a satin-finished skeletonized black and jade green dial. The color, which is also used in the rubber strap, was sourced from the unique shades found in natural jade stones.

Our POV
When you consider everything that Norqain has to offer — a fresh perspective and compelling, quality-driven designs — it’s hard to find a reason not to invest in one of these timepieces. The brand has focused on the same high-performance, uncompromising design, and by introducing these new editions — one of them very limited — Norqain is upping the ante on demand for its brand.
The Independence Skeleton Chrono 42mm Purple retails for $6,890, while the Independence Skeleton Chrono 42mm Jade will run you $6,990.
