One of the Most Exclusive Rolex Flexes on the Internet Isn’t Even a Watch

Those lucky enough to land a new Rolex through an authorized dealer occasionally go home with something else to wear besides their new watch.

For those not yet initiated into the world of Rolex, walking into an authorized dealer (AD) and expecting to walk out with a Submariner or Daytona is, frankly, adorable.

Buying nearly any new Rolex usually involves frustrating waitlists, patience and luck, which is why many who get “The Call” feel the experience is akin to winning the lottery.

But for those who do strike gold—or rather, Oystersteel—there’s a chance they might walk away with something else entirely. No, not a free polishing cloth (though you’ll get that too). We’re talking about a mysterious and undeniably exclusive Rolex Eau De Parfum bottle.

A Surprising Gift

A handful of Rolex buyers across Reddit and watch forums have reported receiving bottles of Rolex-branded perfume from their ADs as a thank-you gift for their purchase.

But let’s be clear: this isn’t standard practice. Many seasoned Rolex buyers mention they’ve never even heard of it, let alone smelled it.

Instead, its existence is discussed (and often mocked) in online communities and verified only through the occasional personal image of green (men’s fragrance) or rose gold (women’s fragrance)- colored bottles, as well as listings on eBay and the like.

Surprisingly, this isn’t Rolex’s first foray into fragrance. While the idea of a luxury watchmaker dabbling in eau de parfum might seem out of left field, vintage bottles of Rolex-branded cologne have been floating around collector circles and online marketplaces for years.

One of the more well-known examples is Perpetually Yours, a now cheeky, retro-looking fragrance by today’s standards that sometimes surfaces on eBay and in collector shops—complete with packaging that wouldn’t look out of place in a 1970s airport duty-free case.

Whether it was a limited-run promotional item or a quirky side experiment, it suggests that Rolex’s relationship with scent goes back further than you’d expect.

Still, the modern iteration, which consists of two elegant bottled fragrances for men and women branded “Rolex Eau De Parfum,” isn’t something you can buy.

It’s elusive. It’s ultra-limited. And in its own odd way, very on-brand.

So, What Does It Smell Like?

Understandably, the idea of a Rolex-branded fragrance opens the floodgates for expected jokes about the smells of “rejection,” “disappointment,” and “elitism.”

What either fragrance truthfully smells like, though, is hard to know.

Only having a handful of nose-on-the-ground brief reviews is easy to dig up, courtesy of those lucky enough to own (or sniff) a bottle.

Redditor u/Elgiango described the men’s version as “quite classic (sandalwood mainly), it reminds me of Abercrombie and Fitch and my granddad aftershave.” He added, “but I’m not a perfume guy,” in case you were thinking of cancelling your Creed order.

Another now-deleted Reddit user account shared, “It’s a good scent but nothing adventurous.”

Another mysterious user, who has also subsequently deleted their account, wrote of the women’s version: “Actually it’s very nice, quite light and a bit fruity, my wife was gifted a bottle from the AD when I bought her a DJ for her 40th.”

True to Rolex form, if you really want a bottle of the fragrance, you’ll likely have to wait—or pay. Some bottles have surfaced on resale platforms and collector sites like Collectors Corner NY, where one listing had the perfume priced at nearly $300.

In the end, it turns out that Rolex Eau De Parfum is less a product and more a rumor you can wear—if you’re lucky. It’s one part myth, one part marketing curiosity, and fully emblematic of the brand’s mystique.
