Oris’s perennial pilot’s watch is famous for its simple Arabic numerals; oversized crown (designed to work with aviator gloves); and a novel pointer date complication that underscores the brand’s longtime commitment to legibility.

But who said functional couldn’t be fun?

For 2025, the flagship variant housing Oris’s in-house Calibre 403 movement sizes up from 38mm to 40mm and takes on a pair of sporty updates to broaden its appeal.

The first of those are two new colorways, including a salmon-esque terracotta red, as well as an earthy green that offers an earthy alternative to the brand’s smash-hit ProPilot X Kermit Edition from 2023.

Both come with the option of a brown deer-leather strap or new polished H-link metal bracelet — a welcome addition considering the original 38mm Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403, released in 2023, only came on a black-leather strap.

Pricing and availability

Pricing starts at $4,100 for strap and climbs to $4,300 for the bracelet.

The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date quipped with the Sellita-based 754 calibre costs $2,300.

A 40mm variant powered by the Sellita-based 754 calibre is also available for $2,300. It comes in three dial colors — yellow, turquoise and lilac — each paired with the metal bracelet.

Oris’s signature Big Crown Pointer Date gets an earthy update with two new colors, a leafy green and terracotta orange. The definitive central date hand corresponds to a 31-day railroad track along the outside rim of the dial. The Calibre 403, outfitted with an in-house automatic movement, features a small second hand at six o’clock with a railroad track that matches the date register. It is available with a sporty new steel H-link bracelet or a brown deer leather pin-buckle strap.
