Omega Just Teased a Secretive New Speedmaster at the 2025 Met Gala

And for once in recent memory, it wasn’t worn by Daniel Craig.

Omega has become a well-oiled machine when it comes to using brand ambassadors to tease new watch releases lurking on the horizon.

Daniel Craig has arguably made a second career out of flashing yet-to-be-revealed Omegas in public and often broke the watch internet in the process.

Now, at least for once, another actor stepped in as Craig’s watch hype understudy during the highest-profile fashion and watch-spotting events of the year, i.e., the 2025 Met Gala.

Yesterday, during the 2025 Met Gala, it was Colman Domingo’s turn to show off what Omega coyly described “as an unreleased Speedmaster watch in 18K gold.“

That’s all the information Omega chose to share, alongside a single photo of the watch in question on Domingo’s wrist.

Moonshine Gold Meets Speedy Tuesday?

No amount of muttering “enhance” at the provided photo will reveal tons of new details. Still, based on a rudimentary crop, the new Speedy appears to feature a brightly polished 18k Moonshine Gold case.

Omega first released the unique gold alloy in 2019, and only two Speedmasters in Omega’s current lineup feature a Moonshine Gold case paired with a Moonshine Gold bracelet.

The dial is more novel in some ways.

While Omega has released so-called “reverse panda dial” versions of the Speedmaster in the past, including on notable releases like The Speedmaster “Speedy Tuesday” Limited Edition revealed way back in 2017, the brand currently doesn’t offer another version of the Speedy with a black face and white sub-dials.

That’s about all I care to glean from staring at a blurry portrait shot of a celebrity’s wrist for now, but I’d wager Omega will be setting the record straight about this release sometime later this year.

But for perspective, both of Omega’s current models featuring a Moonshine gold case and bracelet retail for over $44,000. So, when this watch is finally released, don’t expect it to be cheap.
