  • Nomos has launched a new worldtimer featuring an innovative movement
  • The movement utilizes a pusher that simultaneously rotates the city ring and jumps the local hour hand
  • The collection includes two permanent colors and six limited editions, all priced at $4,720 on a bracelet

One of the lesser-reported aspects of watches and their appeal is their ability to function as wearable fidget spinners. Whether it’s rotating a bezel or spinning a rotor, watches can be a simple source of casual entertainment.

Watches and Wonders Geneva: The watch world’s biggest release party may be over but the year in horology has just begun. Catch up on all the key novelties from Rolex, Panerai, Patek Philippe and more.

I saw tons of the new watches in Geneva at this year’s Watches and Wonders trade show. I’m still not sure which was the “best,” but I can confidently say which watch was the most fun to wear.

It’s the new Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Worldtimer.

Fidgeting ‘Round the World

Nomos’s latest travel watch utilizes a new in-house movement from the German watchmaker, Cal. DUW 3202, which adds a unique wrinkle to the tried-and-true worldtimer complication.

Utilizing the familiar Club Sport design language with its puffy lumed Arabic indices, the sunburst dial features a bicolor 24-hour subdial at 3 o’clock and a small seconds counter at 6, with an inner bezel ring featuring 24 cities of the world in a mix of abbreviations and airport codes.

The 40mm stainless steel case features a mix of brushed and polished finishes and contains a single chronograph-like pusher at 2 o’clock. That pusher provides dual functions, as pressing it simultaneously jumps the local hour hand one hour and moves the city ring forward one spot.

When traveling, you first use the pusher to align your home time zone with the 12 o’clock marker. Next, use the crown to adjust the 24-hour subdial to your current time at home. Finally, when you reach your destination, press the pusher until the city at 12 aligns with your current location. Doing so will simultaneously move the central local hour hand to the correct time at the location shown at 12.

It’s quite an ingenious and convenient way to adjust the time on a travel watch, combining features of a “true” GMT and worldtimer with a pusher system like those seen on only a handful of high-end watches. Not only that, but it is incredibly fun to play with, with the pusher providing a satisfying click and a fun visual as it manipulates the dial in two ways at once.

Pricing and Availability

The Nomos Club Sport Nemoatik Worldtimer is available now directly from Nomos in two colorways: a silver dial with blue and red accents, and a navy one with other shades of blue adorning the 24-hour subdial.

Nomos also simultaneously launched six limited editions in a range of striking color combinations, with each limited to 150 pieces, but all quickly sold out on the brand’s website. I’m sure other colors will follow in the future.

All versions of the Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Worldtimer come standard on a brushed and polished three-link steel bracelet and are priced at $4,750, easily making this one of the most compelling travel watches on the market for under $5,000.

It’s certainly the most fun.
