Rolex unveiled its 2024 lineup at Watches and Wonders, timekeeping’s biggest release party of the year.

After last year’s crop of colorfully exotic watches, Rolex kept things pretty tame for 2024, returning to its roots with subtle updates to popular models like the GMT-Master II and Sky-Dweller.

However, this isn’t to say Rolex’s updated catalog is without surprises.

Coming into the show, the biggest rumors surrounding the Crown suggested we might see a GMT-Master II with a red-and-black bezel — otherwise known as a “Coke” in Rolex parlance. This stemmed from a reveal that the brand filed a patent for a black-and-red Cerachrom bezel back in 2022.

Instead, we got perhaps the most subtle and understated GMT-Master II in recent memory, which keen eyes will notice actually plays off a Rolex release from last year’s Watches and Wonders.

Here’s that and more: the most important new watches from Rolex.

The Most Subtle GMT-Master II In Rolex’s Lineup

So, no Coke … but the rumors weren’t completely wrong. We still received a new GMT-Master II in steel, this time in an understated black-and-gray colorway that plays off last year’s two-toned reference 126713GRNR.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the black-and-gray bezel from Rolex. It debuted last year on two other GMTs, neither of them steel, however.

This new GMT-Master II joins the “Pepsi” (red and blue), “Batman” (black and blue) and “Sprite” (black and green) as the fourth Oystersteel GMT-Master II in Rolex’s lineup. It’s available on a Jubilee or Oyster bracelet and carries a price tag of $10,900 (if you can find it at retail, of course).

Deepsea Treasure

Rolex also released a gold version of the unapologetically beefy Deepsea, the company’s ultra-capable dive watch with a depth rating of 12,800 feet. This new version also features a Cerachrom bezel insert and RLX titanium caseback, and it represents the first time Rolex has ever put gold, titanium and ceramic together.

Admittedly, this Deepsea doesn’t really make sense on paper — who is taking a gold watch that deep into the ocean? But it makes perfect sense for Rolex. No other brand better blends the high-end with the highly technical.

The Dressiest Sky-Dwellers to Date

The Sky-Dweller has gone from a dark horse to a hype watch, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change thanks to the collection’s two latest references released at Watches and Wonders 2024.

The first new Sky-Dweller comes in Everose gold; the other in yellow gold. But what’s especially interesting about these new references is the fact that both are sold on a Jubilee bracelet, marking the first time such a bracelet in full precious metal has been made available on the Sky-Dweller.

These are Rolex’s dressiest Sky-Dwellers to date and both do an excellent job of rounding out the offerings of the brand’s most complicated watch.

Other 2024 Releases

Elsewhere, Rolex continued its precious-metal overload with a variety of new offerings from across its catalog.

Most blingy of all is a pair of new Daytonas with diamond-set bezels and mother-of-pearl dials. One has a white mother-of-pearl dial with contrasting black mother-of-pearl chronograph registers, while the other has the inverse of that combo. The white “Pearl Panda” is only available on an Oysterflex strap, while the black dial version is sold exclusively on an Oyster bracelet.

Rolex also updated the Day-Date with a number of new variants in both the 36mm and 40mm sizes, with the most significant being the Everose gold version with a charcoal dial that the discreetly debuted at the Oscars earlier this year. Rounding out Rolex’s offerings for Watches and Wonders 2024 is a new version of the 1908 dress watch that debuted at last year’s show. The new reference adds both a platinum case and an engine-turned guilloche dial — in ice blue — to the collection for the first time.
