Welcome to Talking Points, a series that looks at what makes certain products worth talking about, brought to you by Gear Patrol Studios.
Every watch brand has an origin story, but few, if any, have one as exciting or deeply rooted in addressing the needs of the U.S. Military as Luminox.
Chief Nick North, the Assistant Officer to the Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) unit for the Navy SEALs, was the first to recognize how Luminox’s innovative visibility tech could benefit special operators and helped pave the way for the original Navy SEAL watch in 1994.
Over thirty years later, the ethos and needs of the SEALs — an acronym for SEA, AIR and LAND Teams — is still directly reflected in Luminox’s timepieces. The brand’s new Heritage line celebrates the company’s 35 years of collaboration with the elite fighting force and includes a new model focused on each of the team’s SEA, AIR, and LAND theaters of operation.

The Backstory
The series includes watches honoring three distinct military legacies.
The Navy SEAL Original 3001.H Dive Watch is a revamped tribute that looks remarkably similar to the original Navy SEAL model with a few notable tweaks. This notably includes a “30” on the bezel, denoting three decades of collaboration with the elite fighting force in classic Luminox red.
The F-117 Nighthawk x Skunkworks 6442.H is likewise inspired by the earliest stealth fighter pilots who approached Luminox almost 25 years ago and features a stealth Skunk Works® logo at 6 o’clock that remains relatively hidden in daylight but glows bright with Super-LumiNova in the evening.
Rounding out the collection is the RECON Point Man 8825.H Series Heritage Wristwatch honoring, as the name implies, members of military recon units.
