G-Shock and Crocs Just Transformed the ‘CasiOak’ Into a Wild New Wearable

Two brands intimately familiar with hype and norm-challenging design have finally teamed up to release a curious watch and shoe bundle.

The contest for the most hyped brand collaboration of 2025 may already be decided.

For the first time ever, G-Shock and Crocs have joined creative forces to create something I can’t say I’ve ever seen before in my nearly two decades of writing about products.

A New Hybrid Croc Design

The shoe might look familiar, but it appears to be a first-of-its-kind hybrid design that adds a heel strap to the Echo Wave clog launched in December of 2024.

Let’s ignore that large G-Shock attached to the side for a moment – as difficult as that is – and focus on the rest of the shoe for one second.

The bone-colored Croc appears to be a new hybrid silhouette from the brand.

The bulk of the shoe matches the Echo Wave, a sportier, futuristic slip-on launched in December 2024. Its namesake wave-like form isn’t merely an aesthetic statement; the shape also helps hug the foot, adding comfort to compensate for its lack of a strap.

For this release, though, a back strap has been added to the shoe that, at least functionally, mirrors the same piece found on another member of Clark’s Echo line, the Echo Clog, and other clogs outside the Echo family. The strap attaches via velcro and can easily be removed if desired.

The collab press release describes it as “a custom marbled ankle strap inspired by G-SHOCK’s iconic durability and precise craftsmanship.”

To top it all off, almost every element of the shoe, outside of the velcro, glows in the dark.

A Creamy New “CasiOak”

Naturally, a collaboration with G-Shock had to include a watch. The press release doesn’t confirm the model used in the bundle, but it’s clearly part of the GA2100 series, more affectionately known as the “CasiOak” among G-Shock fans and watch nerds alike.

The collaboration press release doesn’t include the exact model number of the watch bundled in the set. But it’s clearly part of the GA2100 series, more affectionately known as the “CasiOak” among G-Shock fans and watch nerds alike.

The nickname directly references the watch family’s hexagonally shaped bezel that resembles one of the most iconic stainless steel sports watches of all time, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

An all-metal version of the G-Shock GA2100 is being worn on a male model's wrist. The model is wearing a herringbone patterned blazer and check patterned navy sweater.
G-Shock’s GA2100 has been a massive success for the brand since it launched in 2019. Today, a wide range of CasiOaks are available, including versions in all metal.
G-Shock

Since its initial launch in 2019, G-Shock has steadily built the GA2100 family to include a massive range of CasiOak options in countless colors and materials. However, a quick scan of the brand’s current listings suggests this is the first version ever to be released in a deep cream color, which is very on-trend these days, at least among one subset of humanity.

Construction-wise, most GA2100s feature a case and bezel made from bio-based resin made from renewable materials and a mineral glass face.

Functionally, they also offer analog and digital timekeeping capabilities, complete with a hand shift feature that allows wearers to move the analog hands out of the way to see the integrated digital display.

As a G-Shock, the GA2100 typically packs plenty of adventure-ready features, including a super illuminator double LED light and backlight, 200-meter water resistance, world timer tracking of up to 31 time zones, a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarms, and a full auto-calendar.

However, we can’t confirm yet that the G-Shock Echo Wave Bundle will mirror this common feature set.

The Unique Bridge Between Them

The included product shots of the collaboration depicting an artist working in a studio might hint at one plausible explanation for why the watch attaches to the shoe.

Now, let’s turn our attention back to the fact that this collaboration shows the companion G-Shock watch attached directly to the Echo Wave Clog.

What’s this all about, you ask?

Here’s what the press release has to say on the matter.

“The watch case is easily removed from the strap and seamlessly transitioned into the clog’s rivet system, redefining how and where a watch can be worn. Whether on your wrist or integrated into your footwear, the timepiece is designed to move with you, boldly and on your terms.”

So why would you want to attach your watch to your shoe exactly?

Therein lies the deeper question.

According to the press release, the G-Shock Echo Wave Bundle will be available on May 27th for $200 at “select wholesale partners” and Crocs.com.

The included product shots of the collaboration offer a hint of one plausible explanation.

Say you’re a creative type who likes to paint or sculpt and also likes watches and worries that your hands-on craft might damage your piece.

Strapping your watch to your shoe might be one way to keep it out of harm’s way, but I’m not looking to die on a hill here defending this quirky collab’s pragmatism.

Strapping your watch to your shoe might be one way to keep it out of harm’s way, but I’m not looking to die on a hill here defending this quirky collab’s pragmatism. As with many coveted products today, style may rule over substance; nothing is wrong with that.

That said, even mighty Apple might learn a thing or two from this novel approach. After all, sliding your watch module into a dedicated shoe case seems more sensible than strapping your Apple watch to your ankle.

Pricing and Availability

According to the press release, the G-Shock Echo Wave Bundle will be available on May 27th for $200 at “select wholesale partners” and Crocs.com.

That price point seems surprisingly fair, considering that the current Echo Wave slide costs $70, and most non-metal versions of the GA2100 models usually retail for $99-$130.
