Welcome to Talking Points, a series that looks at what makes certain products worth talking about, brought to you by Gear Patrol Studios.
Simple sports watches have always been classic timepieces. In recent years, though, the watch industry’s introduction of bolder and brighter dial colors has breathed new life into the category. Citizen’s Tsuyosa line, more formally known as the NJ015, has been on the leading edge of this movement for years. Now a new teal iteration is poised to be the next coveted summer release in the series.

The Backstory
A coveted collection finally came stateside.
The Tsuyosa line was first introduced by Citizen in 2022 and became an immediate hit within enthusiast circles due to its appealing combination of build quality, styling and price. Unfortunately for watch fans in the U.S., it wasn’t available stateside until last May. The first series for the U.S. market included five configurations, each distinguished by rich and crisp-looking sunburst dials.
The Gist
The newest colorful edition offers strong summer vibes.
The NJ015 line consists of 40mm timepieces made from silver-tone stainless steel that’s water resistant up to 50 meters. It’s powered by an automatic movement that’s fully visible thanks to an exhibition case back and hand-wound via a recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position.
The new teal edition to the series stands out for its striking, ocean-colored dial, especially in the way the gradient dramatically contrasts from light to dark at the edges.
Like the entire series, other dial elements include a magnified date window at the 3 o’clock position and clean baton-style hands and indices.
