There are almost too many integrated luxury sports watches these days, but a select few tend to get the lion’s share of attention.

There’s the OG, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, with its fellow Holy Trinity members: the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Vacheron Constantin Overseas. What’s more, as of this year, the Rolex Land-Dweller has arrived with unprecedented fanfare to join this upper echelon.

But the watch that might be my favorite in the category is one that doesn’t get nearly enough attention.

It’s the Chopard Alpine Eagle, which has proven to be an incredibly versatile template for models as diverse as the ceramized titanium Cadence, the all-platinum XP CS and the iced-out Frozen Summit, among others.

Now, Chopard has launched a pair of new Alpine Eagle watches that are in strong contention for this year’s “watch of the summer” title.

A Sports Watch Made for the Beach

The new Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 Beach Edition comes in two flavors, both of which are incredibly eye-catching. Both feature a Lucent Steel case in 41mm with an integrated rubber strap, but they differ in color.

One features a dial in bright pink — dubbed “Rock Jasmine Pink” by Chopard — while the other boasts a bright turquoise “Maritime Blue” shade. Both dials feature the Alpine Eagle’s signature “eagle iris” stamped pattern, along with color-matched date windows at 4:30.

The watches’ integrated rubber straps are tonally matched to their respective dials, creating some very bright timepieces that are perfectly suited to beach vacations. (The screw-down crown and 100m water resistance don’t hurt, either.)

Powering the watches, and visible behind a sapphire caseback, is the in-house Chopard calibre 01.01-C automatic. It’s a COSC-certified chronometer movement that beats at 4Hz and offers a solid 60 hours of power reserve. It’s not the fanciest Chopard engine by any stretch, but it’s still a great movement and perfectly suited to this watch.

While it’s missing the integrated bracelet of the standard Alpine Eagle 41, the Beach Edition still retains the same superbly finished case that’s equal parts elegant and robust.

While Chopard makes no references to Miami in their scant marketing materials for these two special editions, it’s hard not to see the similarities between these watches and the two viral Miami-inspired Black Bay Chronos in Pink and “Flamingo Blue” that Tudor launched over the past year and change.

I’m sure some will whine that these oversaturated colors are becoming played out, but I, for one, can’t get enough of them. If every brand wants to release sports watches in pink and turquoise, that is just A-OK with me.

Pricing and Availability

As of right now, there’s not a ton of info out there on the Alpine Eagle 41 Beach Editions. Chopard has shared them on social media, but only the pink version has a product page on the brand’s website as of this writing.

What I can say at this time is the watches are Chopard boutique exclusives, meaning you’ll need to make the trek to your nearest Chopard location to purchase one. They’re listed for $13,100, which is a nice chunk of change but a comparative bargain compared to other sports watches in the Alpine Eagle’s league.

And when it comes to those other sports watches, I can’t think of any that will garner as much attention — at the beach or elsewhere — as these two vibrant Beach Editions.
