At arm’s length, Breitling’s Superocean Heritage has been one of the best-looking dive watches since it was introduced in 2007, but it has long suffered from one big flaw.
Measuring between 46mm and 42mm wide and over 14mm tall, it has always been an absolute wrist eater. Which, given its aesthetic roots in the original Superocean from the 1950s, never made much sense.

Now, finally, Breitling is introducing a 40mm and 36mm version of the Superocean Heritage, while retiring the 46mm size. It is part of the first update to the collection since 2017, and the most impactful one in its history.
Breitling did an excellent job of sticking to the same design language imported from its 1950s dive watches and has defined the Superocean Heritage collection since its release.

For example, the bisected circle applied hour marker seen four times on the dial of the ’57 models, now appears once at twelve o’clock on the new standard design.
Aside from the size, all of the changes are subtle, but they add up to a watch that retains the same mid-century panache with a sleeker finish.
