Omega Just Teased a New Bond Watch in the Coolest Way Possible

Bond is back. And he has a brand-new watch for the ride.

Even without James Bond, Omega would be one of the world’s most recognizable brands, in watches and otherwise.

Manufacturing the first timepieces to walk the moon will do that. So, too, will serving as the official timekeeper of the Olympics for nearly 100 years.

But despite the brand’s achievements off the silver screen, the brand’s longstanding relationship with her majesty’s secret service has undoubtedly made it one of most coveted names in high horology, converting legions of 007 fans in bona fide watch enthusiasts over the last 30 years.

Needless to say, every time there’s a new Bond watch in the works, people perk up. And now might be a good time to pay attention.

A new Bond, a new watch

Before you get too excited, mum’s still the word on the next Bond movie. And, technically, we still don’t know which actor will ultimately replace Daniel Craig in the franchise (although some guesses are better than others).

But James Bond is back, baby. Or he will be soon, this time in 007 First Light, an upcoming action-adventure video game scheduled for release in 2026.

As revealed by a new announcement trailer, the game follows a young, reckless Bond working his way through the MI6 training program and tasked with taking down a rogue agent.

That said, the trailer also showed something else: a new watch. In fact, it showed seven, all lined up in a case that reads “Omega,” clear as day.

Around the 1:22 mark, Bond can be seen reaching one of the watches and pressing one of its pushers, triggering some kind of rocket propulsion feature on his motorcycle — a Triumph, for what it’s worth.

Then, about 40 seconds later, we get a closer glimpse at one of the watches — presumably the hero reference of the game, as it appears to be the same watch that Bond grabbed earlier judging by the strap.

What’s more, you don’t even need to pass the MI6 training program to decipher the exact watch. The game’s crisp graphics clearly show it to be a Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph.

Push the boundaries

While some specifics of Bond’s model may forever remain confidential — or, at the very least, require the suspension of disbelief — a few technical features can be inferred by existing Omega references.

First, the watch likely measures 44mm and has a thickness of 17.2mm (assuming whatever hidden gadgetry doesn’t bloat the watch).

And, if it lettering on the dial is accurate, it has the METAS-certified Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, with a depth rating of 300 meters.

We do know for a fact that it comes on a NATO, with a single stripe running down the middle.

While a Seamaster here is somewhat expected — Bond has worn one in every on-screen appearance since 1995 — it being a chronograph is novel, even if it makes logical sense in a suspension-of-disbelief sort of way. Let’s face it, the world’s greatest spy needs buttons to press.

Before 007 First Light, Bond’s only connection to an Omega chronograph was in a 2002 promotional poster for Die Another Day featuring Pierce Brosnan. (Sean Connery and Roger Moore both wore chronographs before the Omega era.)

However, the Seamaster Diver 300M has become known as the definitive Bond watch, considering it featured in five consecutive films between Goldeneye and Casino Royale, as well as the most recent one, No Time to Die.

So whether Omega actually turns the Bond’s video-game watch into a real-life reference remains to be seen.

But given the brand’s recent track record of “leaking” upcoming models with unexpected cameos and appearances, it’s not the worst bet to assume they will.

How else are you supposed to engage that rocket on your motorcycle?
