Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) has moved online and Baselworld 2020 is canceled, but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. Stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases here.
At first, the Oris Divers 65 Chronograph was only available in various limited editions, making adding one to one’s collection a difficult proposition. Then, last year, we were given a non-limited version in the form of a handsome steel watch with bronze accents. Now, those who love the idea of an all-bronze version are in for a serious treat.
The new Oris Holstein Edition 2020 — the first in a series of timepieces that honor the village in which the brand was founded in 1904 — is a limited-edition version of the Divers Sixty-Five chronograph and evidently the first watch to feature a Swiss-made, all-bronze bracelet. Cased in solid bronze with a stainless steel case back embossed with the Oris Bear, it’s otherwise very much a classic Sixty-Five chrono, with a 43mm diameter, a unidirectional rotating bezel with bronze insert, a domed sapphire crystal, and 100m of water resistance.
The dial on the new LE is a stunner and conforms to the aesthetics of the case and bracelet: gold-plated, it features black sub-registers, rose gold-plated indices and Super-LumiNova lume. With its screw-down crown and pushes, automatic Oris 771 movement and refined bracelet with micro-adjustment clasp, this is a serious tool watch despite the (relatively) soft bronze material. Limited to 250 pieces and available online or through Oris boutiques, it carries a price of $5,200 and is available this month. If you’d like to choose your own limited edition number, you can do so at Oris’s website.
