Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) has moved online and Baselworld 2020 is canceled, but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. Stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases here.
In late 2018, we accompanied Luminox to Iceland to see the Icelandic Search and Rescue teams in action, rappelling from helicopters, RV-ing over dried lava fields, hauling stretchers over craggy windswept terrain, and generally just being cold-weather badasses. Luminox had partnered with ICE-SAR on a special watch, the ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 Series, which we got to check out first-hand.
Now, that watch is available in a cool new iteration. Dubbed the ICE-SAR Arctic 1003.ICE, it features a special navy blue dial with a pebbled-looking texture and a matching rubber strap with a blue textile top insert and Carbonox™ signature buckle.
The watch’s specs are consistent with the ICE-SAR models that have come before: a 46mm, ultra-lightweight Carbonox case, 200m of water resistance, sapphire crystal, a Ronda 515 quartz movement with date, and a stainless steel case back. Of course, as is the case with all Luminox models, the new LE is equipped with Luminox Lighting Technology (LLT) — tritium gas tubes — for the ultimate in nighttime visibility. A rotating, fully graduated dive-style bezel rounds out the feature set.
If you’re looking for an ultra-tough watch to accompany you on your next adventure, the ICE-SAR Arctic 1003.ICE is only $495, and will ship in June.
