Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) has moved online and Baselworld 2020 is canceled, but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. Stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases here.
The Longines Flagship collection was introduced in 1957, and its latest addition looks like it comes straight from that era. If you’re ready to upgrade from your Orient Bambino and go full Don Draper, this is a good dress watch to consider.
Building on the design of existing Flagship Heritage watches, the newest has a black dial with pink-gold elements that give it a warm, yesteryear type of glow. Housed in a 38.5mm steel case and powered by the brand’s version of the ETA 2895 automatic movement, the Longines Flagship Heritage looks all the more throwback with its small seconds display rather than the more common central seconds hand. An even more throwback touch is that the watch’s lug width is a now uncommon 19mm — making strap changes from the included black croc leather strap a bit more challenging.
The Longines Flagship Heritage, with its distinct midcentury looks, is a serious dress watch that makes for a classical, handsome choice — and a fine gift for someone just graduating college and on his way into the workforce. It’s available now for preorder for $1,675 from the brand online.
