Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) has moved online and Baselworld 2020 is canceled, but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. Stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases here.

Partnering with retailer Watches of Switzerland, Grand Seiko has released the latest edition of its GMT watch featuring a new dial in a verdant hue. Green dials are all the rage now, but not all greens are created equal. The Toge Special Edition, however, sees the Japanese brand applying its famously refined approach to a textured dial finishes and injecting a touch of warmth with gold highlights.

Grand Seiko once again explains its designs as taking inspiration from nature: the word toge in the name means “mountain pass” in Japanese — and specifically, it refers a mountain nearby the company’s studios. The brand even calls this particular execution the “Mount Iwate dial.” It’s a nice image, but of course the quality and refinement of Grand Seiko watches stand on their own merits.

The Toge’s 39,5mm steel case is polished with the zaratsu finishing technique and of course features all the details and refinement fans expect. Don’t forget that this is also a GMT watch, with a gold 24-hour hand that indicates a second time zone. GMT functionality is provided by the brand’s in-house 9S66 automatic movement, which is displayed through a sapphire crystal case back.

The Grand Seiko Toge Watches of Switzerland Special Edition reference SBGM241 is sold only through Watches of Switzerland for a price of $5,200. It’s not specified as being a limited edition and is available for preorder now.
