Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) and Baselworld 2020 have been canceled, but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. To stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases, visit our tag page.
If you know the Swiss brand Perrelet, it’s most likely for its collection of watches with turbine-like spinning dials. A more traditional side of the brand is represented by its Weekend collection, which has been updated with new options for 2020. In contrast to the sporty Turbine watches, the Weekend watches are intended as traditional dress watches — and the GMT version is the standout model.
The collection includes three-hand, formally styled watches, as well as a more youthful interpretation of the design that features an “open heart” dial to show the movement’s oscillating balance wheel. It’s the Weekend GMT, however, that’s most visually interesting — and also offers the useful function of a second time zone. As a dress watch, the collection features 39mm wide steel cases (with options of coatings), water-resistant to 50m.
They’re powered by automatic GMT movements (most likely provided by Perrelet’s corporate sibling company Soprod), which are visible through a mineral crystal caseback. With the new additions, there are options of black, white, and blue dials, as well as bare steel and PVD rose-gold-coated cases. Prices for the collection start at around $1,220 for the automatic three hand watches, and top out at around $1,950 for the GMT with PVD gold finish.
