Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) and Baselworld 2020 are canceled but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. To stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases, visit our tag page.
During last year’s SIHH, the Montblanc Heritage Pulsograph became one of our team’s favorite watches. Handsome, well-proportioned and featuring a striking salmon-colored dial, it stuck out amongst the sea of vintage-themed timepieces and inspired lust in many a watch buyer’s eyes.
Now, Montblanc is relaunching the watch in the form of the Heritage Pulsograph Limited Edition 100. Again inspired by the vintage “doctor’s watch,” which generally featured pulsation scales and were used to check a patient’s pulse, the new Pulsograph features an 18K rose gold 40mm case with a tobacco-brown dial and matching Sfumato alligator strap.
Powering the watch is the Montblanc Manufacture monopusher chronograph Calibre MB M13.21, featuring a high level of decoration and finishing and visible via a sapphire crystal case back. A striking tobacco-brown dial is comprised of numerous surfaces and finishes, including a smoked, lacquered base with “grainé” hour ring and sunray finishes, rose gold-coated Arabic numeral and dot indices, rose gold-coated hands, and more. Multiple surfaces also feature Super-LumiNova for visibility in low light.
Limited to 100 pieces, the Heritage Pulsograph Limited Edition 100 costs $33,000.
New also for this year is the next iteration of the Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph with a stainless steel case and salmon-colored dial. Based around the Sellita SW 510 movement, the watch is impressive insomuch as it offers a monopusher complication for $4,950 — a relative steal given how complicated a monopusher chronograph is to manufacture.
Featuring a salmon-colored dial with black Arabic and dot indices, rhodium-coated hour and minute dauphine hands and blues steel baton hands for the seconds hand and sub-registers, the Heritage Monopusher Chronograph is housed in a 42mm steel case with both polished and satin finishes, a domed sapphire crystal, curved lugs and special Minerva embossing on the case back. It also ships on a Sfumato alligator strap from the Richemont Pelletteria in Florence, Italy.
