If you’re a fan of automotive history, vintage cars, vintage watches, or all three, you’ve likely seen plenty of rally straps before — those leather watch straps perforated with holes that were ubiquitous in the halcyon days of driving fast without thinking too hard about safety.
If you’ve got yourself an automotive watch and you’re looking to kit it out with the appropriate strappage, you could do worse than Worn & Wound’s new Rally strap, available in three colors (Loden, Lake or Sienna, which are, respectively, olive greenish, sky blue, and burnt orange in color).
Made in Germany by RIOS1931 for the Windup Watch Shop, the matte leather rally strap features a 4mm taper from either 20mm down to 16mm, or 22mm down to 18mm, as well as a straight-row top stitch in heavy, cream-colored thread, a thickness of ~2.8mm and a flat profile. Though black may be the classic color choice for a rally strap (thick of all those panda-dialed vintage Heuer Carreras and Autavias at Le Mans), we’re not complaining about the injection of some color into what is generally a monochromatic affair.
The Worn & Wound Rally strap is available now for $79.
