Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) and Baselworld 2020 are canceled but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. To stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases, visit our tag page.
In anticipation of the upcoming James Bond movie, Swatch has released six typically playful tributes to the film franchise, each of which is based on the movie poster or opening sequence of a different classic Bond film. These six watches precede the release of another Swatch watch that will actually be worn on-screen in No Time To Die (2020) by the character Q — but it won’t be available or unveiled until April to coincide with the film release.
Bond himself has worn many watches, and in No Time To Die he’ll once again rep Omega (a Swatch Group company), but Swatch offers fans a way to indulge their enthusiasm in a lighthearted and affordable way. The six new watches reference the films Dr. No (1962), On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), Moonraker (1979), Licence To Kill (1989), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Casino Royale (2006). Plastic-cased and battery-powered, each one will cost just $95-$105, and they’ll be available at the end of February 2020.
