With nicknames like “Watermelon Candy,” some of Zodiac’s vibrantly colored Super Sea Wolf dive watches have contributed to a playful perception of the brand’s personality. The new Super Sea Wolf 53 Compression watch, on the other hand, has a somewhat different feel to it. Totally coated black, in steel on a steel bracelet, this is the same solid dive watch but with a more serious, brooding presence.
With a matte-textured dial and legible, lume-filled hands and indices, an otherwise monochromatic design is enlivened by a seconds hand and dial text in a contrastingly cheerful teal — it’s a similar color to what you can expect in low light from the luminant. Measuring a hefty 44mm wide and 13mm thick, the new Super Sea Wolf 53 Compression watch is water-resistant to 200m. It’s powered by the STP 3-13 automatic movement with 44 hours of power reserve — made by Swiss movement maker STP, which is also owned by Zodiac’s corporate parent, the Fossil Group.
Available directly from the brand, this badass, all-black Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 53 Compression dive watch has a price of $1,395.
