The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) is the Academy Awards of the watch world. Held every fall, the horological elite come together to celebrate the best innovations of the year and award prizes in different categories to new watches. Winning one of these prizes is a highly prestigious accomplishment that brings credibility and renown to a brand.

Prizes are awarded in numerous categories, including in both men’s and women’s watches. Checking out some of the winners below, you’ll notice it was clearly a big year for Audemars Piguet, whose Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin took home the equivalent of the grand prize. Utilizing a movement just 2.89mm thin, this watch is an incredible feat of engineering that saw a thorough redesign of the perpetual calendar movement cased in an impossibly thin housing.
