The Super Sea Wolf 68 Saturation is a bold, retro-styled tool watch within the Zodiac’s larger collection of reissued and generally vintage-inspired dive watches. Developed as part of an ongoing partnership with the ocean conservancy organization SeaLegacy, as well as brand ambassador and photographer Andy Mann, the new limited-edition watch offers a range of design cues specifically meant to evoke sea life and the ocean.
Mann, a diver and National Geographic photographer who has focused on photographing sharks, was extensively involved in the design process. The most notable element is the dial finish, which features a sunray-like pattern radiating from the top of the dial, rather than from the center. (The idea is to reference the way the light rays look to divers from beneath the water.) The 12 o’clock marker also takes the shape of a shark’s fin.
Some sporty touches of “blaze” orange liven up the dial, but the specs of the Super Sea Wolf 68 Saturation remain similar to those of the existing collection, chief among them being a 44mm-wide steel case in a decidedly 1970s-inspired shape. The watch is powered by the STP 3-13 automatic movement with 44 hours of power reserve, though it’s not visible through the solid case back, which features an engraving of a shark based on one of Mann’s photographs.
With 1,000m of water resistance, this is a serious-looking dive watch with a bold wrist presence, but it remains wearable thanks to short lugs (or lack thereof). As part of a set, the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 68 Saturation comes on a three-link steel bracelet but includes two straps for more wearing options, an Andy Mann-signed original shark photograph, as well as some more goodies.
