Another season, another majestic Grand Seiko dial. It’s now a familiar pattern for the Japanese brand to reimagine its conservative and elegant watches with poetic themes on a regular basis — like these watches inspired by the seasons. They are typically captivating, and the latest such limited edition has an “autumn in Japan” inspiration.
The new SBGH269 uses earthy red tones mixed with gold elements on the dial to express the brand’s vision of fall. Through the sapphire display case back, the titanium rotor is anodized green to reference the contrast of the leaves that haven’t turned yet. Otherwise, the SBGH269 shares the same case, movement, and specs with existing SBGH watches. Housed in a 39.5mm-wide, 13mm-thick steel case (100m water-resistant) with the brand’s signature zaratsu polishing, it runs on the “hi-beat” 9S85 movement operating at the uncommonly high frequency of 5Hz with a power reserve of 55 hours.
Only 900 examples of the Grand Seiko Heritage SBGH269 Autumn Limited Edition will be produced for a price of $6,400 each, and they’ll be available this fall.
