If you’ve heard enough about the Bauhaus in 2019, the 100th anniversary of the seminal design movement, well…too bad. We’re big fans of the pre-War German design school, and it’s hard to deny its influence on just about every creative discipline, from industrial design to watchmaking and everything in between.
Now, Swatch is unabashedly hopping on the Bauhaus train, and has released no fewer than 25 new styles in celebration of the movement’s centenary. We’ll let your peruse the full collection at your leisure, but we really feel that the standout is what we’re highlighting here. Dubbed the Sistem Bau, it’s an entry in the automatic Sistem 51 collection (assembled by robots! Cool!) and features, of course, the automatic Sistem 51 movement, a red date wheel, a black dial with bold, white Arabic numerals, cool blue, red and yellow hands, a 42mm case with 3 bar of water resistance, and a white silicone strap.
Pricing should be about $157 for the Sistem Bau, but as there are 25 watches in the collection, it’s worth perusing the Swatch site to get an idea of the available models, which include chronographs, smaller women’s models, and a loud, red Swatch with the name of each watch component boldly emblazoned upon the timepiece in white.

Braun Classic Gents ($160)
Laco Gena 48 ($540)
