The new 1962 Racing Chronograph has a pretty descriptive name, but is more specifically closest in feel to the Universal Geneve Compax “Nina Rindt” watch. What watch enthusiasts like about Dan Henry watches is that they are made with a collector’s eye to detail and history — and at a stomachable price, they’re not pretending to be anything but homages. The Dan Henry 1962 Racing Chronograph keeps prices down in part by using a VK63 meca-quartz movement, which is battery-powered and quartz-regulated, but with the chronograph function operated mechanically.
At 39mm wide, the Dan Henry watch is a little bigger than most such watches from the 1960s, like the 36mm Universal Geneve. It comes in three dial variations and a range of strap options. Here’s a cool little touch: the customer can simply tick a box for the option of a date window at 4:30 or none at all. Each dial version is limited in production to 1,962 pieces for a price of $260 each.
