Seiko Collaborated with a Japanese Brand on This Wildly Orange Dive Watch

The new Seiko Prospex Fieldmaster Lowercase Beams watch is a collaboration between three Japanese brands.

The current Prospex Fieldmaster is rare among the Seiko lineup in that it’s one of the brand’s only modern digital watches. It combines elements from various Seiko lines like solar charging and the oddly nicknamed “tuna can” case style with its protective outer covering. This new, bright orange version, however, adds even more to the mix in the form of a collaboration with the Japanese design firm Lowercase and the clothing label Beams for a limited edition piece that is appropriately vibrant for summer.

The conspicuous styling of the new Seiko Prospex Fieldmaster Lowercase Beams
Edition watch uses what the brand calls the “traditional emergency color.” It is offset by a negative LCD display, which is not ideal for legibility but generally deemed more fashionable than positive displays. The Fieldmaster is designed as a dive watch with shock resistance, increased durability provided by the outer case, and 200m of water resistance. Further, it offers a familiar range of quartz technology functions from stopwatches to alarms and world time.

Even regardless of color, the Seiko Prospex Fieldmaster will wear boldly at 49.5mm wide and 14.1mm thick, but its heft should be slightly mitigated by a silicon strap and plastic case. The new Seiko Prospex Fieldmaster Lowercase Beams edition watch, reference SBEP021, is limited to 500 pieces and available exclusively through Beams for a price equivalent to about $260.
