Watch fans know Victorinox for their INOX and other watch collections, but many people associate the brand with outdoor gear like their famous Swiss Army folding pocket knives. Victorinox watches tend to also convey a similarly rugged, reliable, affordable personality, with an aesthetic that probably makes many people think of the fun of childhood camping. That is very much what the new FieldForce collection offers, as a modern reinterpretation of the brand’s Chrono Classic collection.
The FieldForce debuts with three-hand models, but chronograph versions will become available later in the year. They each feature Swiss quartz movements powering three-hand time telling along with day and date windows, and are available in black, white, and blue dial versions. Housed in 42mm cases, they also feature anti-reflective-coated sapphire crystals for increased scratch resistance and 100m of water resistance.
Like the brand’s pocket knives, the FieldForce has a no-nonsense, functional design, but not one that’s pared back to something overly serious-looking, like that of some military watches. A neat little touch is that the counterweight of the seconds hand is shaped like a closed pocket knife. Pricing for the Victorinox FieldForce is $350 on a strap or $395 on a steel bracelet.
