This story is part of our Summer Preview, a collection of features, guides and reviews to help you navigate warmer months ahead.
Summer has an official start and end date. But is that what defines it? Hell no. Summer starts when you first feel the sand between your toes, or the night you sit on your back deck with a friend (at least six feet apart) and drink a beer and don’t need a sweater; it ends when those opportunities go into hibernation.
It’s the same with watches. People say “summer watches” and we think divers and field watches and NATO straps — the stuff you’d wear to the beach. But there is no set definition, no start and end, to the summer watch. The summer watch isn’t a style, it’s a feeling. Here are the watches we’re feeling this summer.
Swatch Big Bold Jellyfish

As you may have done during carefree childhood summers, you wear a Swatch watch because they’re fun. Their playful spirit is well represented in the new Big Bold collection, here featuring a 47mm case and matching strap, both in translucent plastic that provides a view of the quartz movement within. The dial remains legible thanks to contrasting hands in primary colors.
