Ball Watch Co. is known for, among other things, the use of tritium gas tube illumination, and the Roadmaster Starlight dive watches are fully decked out in it. What do dive watch fans love even more that copious luminescence? Bronze cases, of course. Now Ball offers both with the Roadmaster StarLight in Bronze.
The Roadmaster StarLight Bronze comes in two combinations of movement and case size that are slightly different from the previous versions in steel. First, a 43mm-wide version features the Ball RRM7309-C automatic movement with 80 hours of power reserve, which the brand says was designed and built entirely in-house. A 42mm version features the automatic ETA 2836-2 with 38 hours of power reserve. Both are COSC chronometer-certified.
Water-resistant to 200m, Ball uses a bronze-aluminum alloy for its case, which is claimed to be particularly corrosion resistant — while apparently still offering the patina that helps make the material so popular. The Ball Roadmaster StarLight Bronze is limited to 1,000 pieces in each variation and available for preorder now until May 22, 2019. The 43mm version has a price of $2,699, which with its in-house movement is not too significant a premium over the 42mm ETA-equipped version with a price of $2,299.
