Ressence’s Unique Dive Watch Gets a Beautiful Blue Upgrade

The Type 5N was already the most unique dive watch in existance, but new blue livery makes it all the more at home beneath the waves.

True innovation in the watch world is a slow and iterative process, often taking decades to make itself apparent. Ressence, however, is in a class of its own, marrying mechanical movements to smart technology in a way that perhaps no other company has yet managed.

The Type 5N is not the most recent (or perhaps, even the most impressive) Ressence yet — that title belongs to 2018’s Type 2 e-Crown Concept — but it’s a remarkable feat of watchmaking in a sleek, futuristic package. It features a 46mm titanium case with oil-filled chamber for incredible visibility beneath a domed sapphire crystal, a mechanical movement based on the ETA 2824-2 and the Ressence Orbital Conves System that controls the mesmerizing, rotating dial.

The Type 5N is positioned by Ressence as a dive watch, and with its 100m of water resistance, it may indeed be the most unique diver on the market. Now available in a deep, “Night Blue” color, the 5N is even better suited for its duty beneath the waves. MSRP is $35,800.
