There’s no denying that the Lange 1 was a game-changer — one of the first four watches designed and released after Lange & Söhne was reestablished, the 1 was an immediate sensation. With its asymmetric dial layout and oversized date counter, the Lange 1 is immediately recognizable and remains incredible popular today.

Now, ahead of SIHH 2019 and in time for the 1’s 25th anniversary, Lange has released a new edition of the watch in white gold and limited to 250 pieces (~$49,816). The 25th Anniversary edition features a deep-blue printed argenté dial, blue date numerals, a hinged curvette with an engraving of the manufacturer’s headquarters and a hand-engraved balance cock with blue lines.

The watch maintains the manually-wound calibre L121.1 first introduced in 2015, which powers the iconic, outsize jumping date display and features a freely oscillating Lange balance spring, twin mainspring barrels and a power reserve of 72 hours. The movement powers a dial that displays minutes, hours, subsidiary seconds with stop seconds, a power reserve indicator and date window.

Though numerous iterations of the Lange 1 have been released over the years, the white gold and blue accents of the 25th Anniversary Edition make for a particularly beautiful watch.
