When we tend to think about JDM (Japan Domestic Market) watches, generally we think about all the cool, high-end Seikos, Casios and Citizens that aren’t sold in the US. But Japan is a massive consumer of Swiss watches, which means many brands have produced special editions just for the Land of the Rising Sun. And few have done it quite like Omega has, as Japan is the brand’s second-biggest market, according to Worn & Wound. Naturally, that means there are some incredible-looking, rare watches from one of our favorite watch brands that you can pick up if you look hard enough — here are three you can get right now:
Omega Speedmaster Automatic “Japan Racing”
What we like: Omega made a number of Speedmaster Automatic special editions for the Japanese market, but this one might be the coolest. It features a dial with Arabic numerals and a hearty dose of red accents — similar to the Mk. 40 of the era — and a sub-40mm case. Inside the watch runs a version of the Valjoux 7750.
From the seller: It is in overall excellent pre-owned condition, rarely used and with no noticeable signs of wear. It has recently been inspected and it works properly in all its functions. It comes with its original Omega wooden box, NATO strap and extra link for steel bracelet.
Omega Speedmaster Reduced “Marui”
What we like: Like the “Japan Racing,” the Reduced is a smaller, automatically-wound iteration of the beloved Speedmatser. Yet, while we got the Reduced everywhere else in the world, this handsome panda dial-variant was done in partnership with the Japanese department store Marui.
