If you’re a watch nerd and also a “Jaws” fan, it’s likely that you noticed the watch Richard Dreyfuss was wearing in the movie but couldn’t quite make out what it was.
The watch was a diver from a little-known company called Alsta, which made timepieces in both tonneau and skin diver cases (the watch featured in “Jaws” seems to have been housed in one of the thicker tonneau-shaped cases). Alsta has in recent years been reconstituted, and has now teamed up with Huckberry to produce an exclusive black PVD version of the watch available in only 50 pieces.
This version of the watch, termed the Nautoscaph III, features a 40mm PVD-coated stainless steel skin diver-type case with 20mm lug width, automatic Seiko NH35A movement with hacking and 41-hour power reserve, date function, 300m of water resistance, unidirectional timing bezel, screw-down crown and case back, hardened mineral crystal, and Super LumiNova-coated indices and hands.
