Late last year, Swiss dive watch company DOXA released what it calls it’s “fastest-selling DOXA of all time,” the SUB 300 Professional Black Lung edition. The watch, which took on the recognizable DOXA design — cushion case, orange dial and beads-of-rice bracelet — added the logo for dive equipment manufacturer Aqua-Lung. The watch was a throwback to a similar co-branded SUB from the late 1960s – not very many were made, and you can bet they’re pricey collector’s items today.
That’s probably why that orange-dialed Professional sold out so quickly. It’s also probably why the brand is back with a followup, the SUB 300 Searmabler “Silver Lung.” The watch is, in many ways, identical to the first limited edition: it has the same case, the same chronometer-grade movement from ETA and the same Aqua-Lung logo at seven o’clock. The only difference is the change from an orange dial to a silver one. While it loses the bold, iconic dial color, it gains a bit of added wearability, as the silver dial gives the Sub 300 a more toned-down look.
The watch is available for pre-order directly from Doxa. If you get in on the pre-order — which you should, given how quickly the last version sold out — you’ll get a solid discount, too: just $2,190, a $400 discount from MSRP.
