The Backstory

NOMOS: What it Means to Call Glashütte Home

For over 175 years, many of the most skilled watchmakers in the world have called Glashütte, Germany, home. Today, the appellation “Glashütte” has been placed under special protection to ensure any timepiece carrying the name implies the highest quality standards. That means that you can only call a timepiece a “Glashütte watch” when there is at least 50 percent of the caliber’s production happening onsite in the Glashütte area.

Essentially, think of Glashütte as the Champagne of watchmaking: if it says “Glasshütte,” it’s from Glasshütte. And any watch from Glasshütte is steeped in heritage, quality and unbeatable precision.

NOMOS chose Glashütte as its home base because the brand is fully committed to producing the highest-quality timepieces possible – a philosophy that quickly and firmly established NOMOS as a top choice of horological connoisseurs. Though the majority of NOMOS’ watchmaking is still done by hand, it is the largest manufacturer of mechanical timepieces in Germany. And yet that dominance has not halted progress. The brand continues to experiment with new designs and technology, paving the way for stellar release after release.

The Gist

The Perfect Go-To Fine Wristwatch?

The new Club Sport neomatik 37mm is powered by the innovative, proprietary and incredibly slim DUW 3001 automatic caliber movement and NOMOS swing system, housed in a case that is just 3.2mm thin. This wildly slimmed-down, “ultra-flat” silhouette still boasts a very impressive 43-hour power reserve, making it a powerful but unobtrusive everyday companion.

This mechanical wizardry is housed behind a gorgeous polar blue or petrol green sunburst dial that is protected by a domed sapphire crystal glass and set inside a stainless steel case with a 20 ATM water resistance rating. Similarly, a standard stainless steel link bracelet ensures all-day comfort thanks to quick-change spring bars and a deployment clasp that elegantly secures the watch when fastening or unfastening. A stainless steel “sport” bracelet and two woven straps are also available.

Our POV

An Excellent Fit for Any Wrist and Every Collection

NOMOS calls its new models “robust and powerful automatic watches for anyone who knows how to reach their goals.” Suffice it to say, regardless of what achievements make your to-do list, strapping an all-new neomatik to your wrist is a superb start.

Backed by technical prowess and a time-honored reputation truly worthy of Glashütte – and especially given its size and versatility – the new Club Sport neomatik models are instant hits. Whether you’re on the lookout for an incredible gift, looking to jumpstart a collection of your own or searching for your next all-time favorite timepiece, there’s no finer place to start.
