Welcome to Talking Points, a series that looks at what makes certain products worth talking about, brought to you by Gear Patrol Studios.
Spinnaker is bringing back the Boettger Automatic for a limited edition – 600 piece – run. The coveted watch – previous iterations of which were defined as an “already ground-breaking series of performance dive watches” – will include four new colorways.
The brand refers to the new project as an entire “rethinking of the dive watch.” Here we’ll explore what exactly makes it Spinnaker’s “most intriguing watch” yet.

The Backstory
Spinnaker: Building Watches to Empower Every Discovery
Spinnaker defines its brand as rooted in “man’s ability to traverse, discover and live among the waves of the open sea.” The brand values bravery, adventure, skill and ingenuity – and wants its watches to empower the best in its customers.
Boasting a varied catalog of innovative dive watches, Spinnaker harnesses a wealth of “ever-improving” technology to release and innovate on its cutting-edge designs.
Now, the re-released Boettger Automatic again pays tribute to a “technical command” of the sea as well as the stunning life “beneath, beyond and beside” it.
The Gist
How Did the Boettger Automatic Become Iconic in The First Place?
With each release, Spinnaker has pushed the Boettger collection to evolve. Previous models have harnessed nitrile butadiene rubber to lighten the design, and the brand has always boldly prioritized “avant-garde” elements to push the watch even further.
This new limited-edition Boettger Automatic has arrived in azure, coral orange, lemon yellow and blizzard white colorways, with a lug-free case whose design visually flows smoothly into the bracelet. A scratch-resistant sapphire lens has been added as extra protection for any adventure and unique three-dimensional ‘floating’ Swiss Super-Luminova indexes keep every moment hyper-legible.
Boasting 300m of water resistance, heightened legibility and a 42-hour power reserve, the watch is as reliable, dependable and precise as any of Spinnaker’s beautiful products. That level of accuracy is courtesy of a 24-jewels, self-winding 28,800 bph Miyota 9015 automatic movement.
Our POV
The Boettger Automatic is The Kind of Dive Watch Enthusiasts Actually Want
The Boettger Automatic is the kind of dive watch you’ll actually wear in and out of the water. It arrives with an ergonomic stainless steel bracelet and a removable, custom-molded FKM rubber strap swaps in for dive duty. Plus, with only 600 pieces dropping in this limited edition run, it’s more important than ever to act fast.
Available in several vibrant colors, the new limited-edition Boettger Automatic is equipped to do a whole lot more than just go with the flow. So if you’re looking for an adventure, strap on this dive watch and get ready to set sail.
