Eight years after it was founded, the the Paris-based concept store Merci, best known its selection of designer home goods, is taking a crack at designing and selling a watch. The LMM-01 feels very much like a mashup of a minimalist Mondaine and a classic field watch. The dial is simple — just black and white. Its adorned with Helvetica numerals and comes with a vintage-inspired case that’s just 37.5mm in diameter. While the watch is affixed to a black NATO strap, several other NATOs, mesh perlon straps and leather straps are available for an additional cost. Buyers will also get a choice of movement — either an ETA 2801-2 hand-winding movement or a Ronda quartz movement. Both versions are fairly affordable, with the quartz retailing for $190 and the mechanical going for $399. As a sweet bonus, profits from Merci help fund humanitarian efforts in southwestern Madagascar.
