David Yurman, a designer and sculptor at heart, boasts a reputation in the jewelry industry that needs no introduction. His latest releases into the horological world are the David Yurman Ancestrale collection, consisting of the Tourbillon (left), the Jumping Hours (right) and the Small Seconds. All three pieces in the collection are limited production models and manufactured with the highest grade materials. The entire collection utilizes Swiss movements and beautiful 43.5mm, 18K rose gold cases adorned with the trademark Yurman cabling decor around the full circumference. The Tourbillon is, as you’d expect, a manual wind tourbillon mechanism at the 9 o’clock position with a 120 hour power reserve, along with a two-sided anti-reflective coated sapphire glass with display back. Even the bridges consist of 18K rose gold, touched off by anthracite screws. All three models show off a beautifully radiant guilloche dial with sun-brushed inner dials and a level of sophistication is added by the unique matte cognac alligator strap, touched off by a custom 18K rose gold ardillon buckle. So, not only do these watches have all the right internal moves, the aesthetic beauty is immediately apparent. Attention-getters for sure, the Ancestrale collection doesn’t jump off your wrist proclaiming it loudly. Rather, they draw you in with the kind of subtle and classy detail that makes these up and coming classics.
