Fans of yacht racing might know that Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) won the America’s Cup last month for the first time in 14 years. They also might know that Omega has been a key sponsor for the team since 1995. As such, it only makes sense that the watchmaker would release a couple of special editions to celebrate ETNZ and, subsequently, their monumental win.
The two watches — a Planet Ocean “Deep Black” GMT and a Speedmaster X33 — are notably donned with the colors of the New Zealand flag and have both been given a countdown “regatta timer,” which counts down the final minutes before the race starts. On the Planet Ocean, this is indicated by the rotating bezel, while on the X-33 it’s a part of the watch’s digital chronograph. Both the X-33 and Planet Ocean special editions are available now, retailing at $5,900 and $11,200, respectively.
