In the brief time that menswear designer Todd Snyder and Timex have been collaborating, the two have managed to produce a small handful of seriously sought-after, vintage-inspired timepieces. It certainly helps when you have access to the watchmaker’s extensive archive for inspiration. And while previous Todd Snyder Timexes have slanted towards a military feel, this new version is meant to “evoke the noir glamor of fast cars, hot tires and mid-century Monaco casinos — all in a sleek New York style.”
A blue, white and black segmented dial (that kind of calls to mind the BMW roundel) certainly helps bring that vision to fruition. The bold dial design appears to be a modernization of an obscure Timex Sprite model from the early 1970s, but Todd Syner helped to modernize it by giving it an accompanying black case and black NATO strap. The rest is classic Timex: a reliable quartz movement, 50 meters of water resistance, and an affordable price tag. The watch is available from Todd Snyder’s website now for just $138.
