Forty-nine watchmakers have just unveiled forty-nine unique timepieces that will hit the auction block later this year. The timepieces are all part of Only Watch, a biennial watch auction comprised of one-of-a-kind watches produced by some of the world’s greatest names in timekeeping, all to raise money to benefit research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The auction is now in its seventh year and is comprised of big names like Tudor, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Blancpain, to name just a few.
The watches here are mostly tweaked or redesigned examples of existing watches. For example, Tudor’s entry is a left-handed variant of its Black Bay Bronze Heritage Diver, while Audemars Piguet is bringing a version of its new all-ceramic Royal Oak with a unique dial. What with their provenance and their unique status, these watches garner thousands of dollars at auction; at 2015’s auction, 44 watches raised more than $11 million.
The watches will go on a world tour, being put up for display in eight world cities (including New York and Los Angeles) before getting auctioned off by Christie’s in Geneva on November 11.
