Last year, we introduced you to the niche watchmaker, Benarus. We were fortunate to get our hands on their new release, the Remora ($610-$650), which was just delivered to a handful of lucky pre-order customers in January of this year. In true-to-Gear Patrol colors, this new diver came to us in one of their signature leather travel cases with stitching to match the dial markers (take note, mainstream). Just like their previous dive watch releases, this is the real deal. Powered by the ever-smooth Miyota 9015 automatic movement, the Remora is encased in a robust 316L stainless steel case with unique hooded lugs, masking the springbars for a clean look. The beautiful ceramic bezel glistens alongside the flat, scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The orange lume on the bezel and dial finish out the unique look. We’re impressed with Benarus’ attention to detail and quality. Plus, the watch is wonderfully comfortable to wear. Underwater visibility is excellent, and the lume is strong. A beautifully intricate shark mesh bracelet and Italian rubber strap are included in this fine horological package. Numbers are limited and the watch is available in brushed stainless, beadblasted and PVD finishes along with orange, blue and white lume. And just like the shark to the real Remora, you won’t want this one to release its grip.
