When the Zenith Chronomaster Revival originally debuted in 2019 it was notable for a number of reasons, not least of which because it was a recreation of an iconic watch from 1969. Since then, however, it’s blossomed into a collection based on this underlying design, but joined by fresh interpretations (much as LVMH sister brand TAG Heuer has done with its Monaco). The latest Chronomaster Revival is called the “Liberty” with a red-white-and-blue color scheme, and is a limited edition for North America.
ZenithThe Chronomaster Revival goes beyond simple vintage inspiration: it recreates the A386 down to its details and 1960s sizing at 37mm — but it now features modern materials such as sapphire crystal and the current descendent of the El Primero chronograph movement. The El Primero 400 beats at its characteristic 5Hz, features automatic winding and 50 hours of power reserve, and in another modern twist is visible through a display case back.
Though many countries’ national colors are red, white and blue, the Zenith Chronomaster Revival “Liberty” has a distinctly American theme as a limited (150 examples) run for North America — and is being announced just ahead of the US presidential election, as if to remind us all to vote. (The colorway and design, with its panda-style contrasting subdials, however, fit right into the ’60s theme.) It’s available now from the brand for $8,700.
