There was a time when the watch world had to rediscover Panerai. Following its transition from military watchmaker to the Italian navy to a new arm of the Vendome Group, the brand was in a ramp-up period in which it was producing wristwatches for civilians for the first time in its history. Newly minted devotees of the resurgent company were nicknamed “Paneristi,” and they cemented their love of the brand with an online forum aptly named Paneristi.com.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Paneristi website, the Italian-founded, Swiss-run company released a special limited edition Radiomir in a 45mm stainless steel case. Dubbed the Radiomir Venti (PAM2020), it features the Paneristi insignia on its dial and case back.
PaneraiA brown, sunbrushed sandwich dial simulates the “tropical” effect of sun and weather on certain vintage watches, while gold-colored sword hands and beige Super-LumiNova recall vintage Panerai models. Powered by the in-house, manually wound cal. P6000, the watch features hacking and a three-day power reserve. It’s also water-resistant to 100m, and ships accompanied by a beige calfskin strap with two-tone stitching and an “OP” logo.
Limited to 1,020 pieces, the PAM2020 is available now for $6,500.
