Get This Ultra-Tough Field Watch with a New Gray Dial

Italian indie brand Unimatic’s Modelo Due watches now feature gray dials matched to a steel or black case.

Unimatic‘s second model, the Modelo Due, has the Italian watchmaker’s characteristic tough build and minimalist design approach, with each new variation offering a refinement and interpretation of the concept. Now, an “RAF gray” dial matched to a brushed steel or black-coated case nails the look yet again.

Though it lacks the the rotating bezel of a standard dive watch (as found on the Unimatic U1, or Modelo Uno, for instance), the Modello Due is rated to 300m of water resistance — and it’s built like a tank. It measures a moderate 39mm in diameter, but has a thick case with a 2.7mm-thick “ultra double domed” and anti-reflective sapphire crystal. It’s powered by the Seiko NH35A automatic movement.

The U2-F (steel) and U2-FN (black) watches each come with a two-piece nylon strap that matches its case color, but the brand also offers a steel bracelet option. The U2-FN has a price of about $590 and the U2-F is about $470, while the bracelet is sold separately for around $230. The watches should be available shortly directly from Unimatic.
